A Worthwhile Experience–Hongkong!

August 8, 2014. Everybody was so excited. This is the day that we have been waiting for...after 8 months of waiting...This is it!!! Our flight was very early, around 7:30am - Manila to Hongkong. At exactly 11:30am, we arrived in Hongkong. We travelled directly to Silka Seaview Hotel, located at Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, the place where we stayed for the trip's duration. Since it was lunch time, we decided to walk around the vicinity to look for a place to eat. There were a lot of restaurants but we chose the one with the most number of customers. Since we were so hungry we ordered two sets of meals each (hee hee). We had a very good meal but the one we loved most was the toasted bread with condensed milk on top -- Parang nasa 'Pinas lang.

In the evening, we decided to go to the night market. The road was closed for the vendors to sell their products. Paintings, shoes, bags, wallets, T-shirts, toys, decors and most especially the pasalubong items were there. Name it and they have it. It was a haven for shoppers, especally for those on a limited budget. The following day was our schedule for the city tour and Disneyland trip. First stop was the Avenue of Starts, located along the Victoria Harbour Waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. It is the place where they give tribute to the artists who helped make Hongkong the "Hollywood of the East". Here you can see the bronze life size statue of Bruce Lee, jacky Chan, Chow Yun Fat, etc. We also dropped by Chow Sang Sang Jewelry, Hongkong's famous jewelry store.

Then we went to the south side of Hongkong Island. Here you can see Ocean Park, Repulse Bay and Stanley Market. What makes it amazing to travel to this area is that we passed through the underground tunnel located under the sea. After our city tour, we travelled to the "Happiest Place on Eart"-- Disneyland! Since it was our first time to visit Disneyland, an explainable feeling came over us as we entered the theme park. The music, the displays, the whole package brought us back to our childhood days. Here we met with the Disney characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Lilo and Stitch, the Lion King, Toy Story characters, Dumbo, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, Disney princesses an a lot more. As we went around the park, we saw the smile on everyone's faces -- the children, young teens and even the young at heart. The rides were so amazing and mystical; performance on stage was very pleasing as we remembered the songs we used to sing as kids.

If I would describe Disneyland in one word, it would be MAGICAL. Indeed, this is the happiest place I have ever been!
